While I am usually a fan of OReilly, I have to disagree with his blowing out of proportion the comment Rush made using the term retarded. It was very clear to those who were listening to Rush that he was making a parody of how the left reacts to how the Dems treated this use of the term.
For a Harvard graduate I find it hard to believe that OReilly didn't get what Rush was talking about. Either that, or OReilly was trying to stir the pot.
In any event, the term is unkind, especially when used to make fun of those with special needs.
Last night on HBO there was a movie called Tropical Thunder in which Ben Stiler and another actor, kept repeating the word retarded, retard, stupid etc. you get the drift. This was done in an attempt to be funny, but it fell flat. It was much worse than anything Rush said, yet I have not heard one person come forth bashing this movie. How can so many people find fault only when a Conservative is involved? Hummmm!
